An Analysis of Two Albertan Anti-Domestic Violence Public Service Campaigns: Governance in Austere Times

This article compares two anti-domestic violence campaigns created by the Edmonton Police Services and the Government of Alberta. This paper argues that both campaigns rely on and reinforce gendered and racialized schema, legitimize each institution, and simultaneously call upon you, the viewer, to address domestic violence. Résumé Cet article compare deux campagnes de lutte contre la violence familiale lancées par les services de police d’Edmonton et le gouvernement de l’Alberta. Cet article fait valoir que les deux campagnes s’appuient sur un schéma fondé sur le sexe et la race et le renforcent, légitiment ces deux institutions et, font simultanément appel à vous, l’auditeur, pour lutter contre la violence familiale.Metrics
