Résumé

Virgie Tovar is an author and activist who speaks and writes on the topics of fat discrimination and its intersection with gender, race, and sexuality. She is the editor of the anthology Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love and Fashion (Seal Press, 2012), the organizer of Babecamp, and publishes extensively with online forums, including Ravishly, BuzzFeed, the New York Times, and Cosmopolitan. In this interview she addresses her understanding of what constitutes her own public, how digital media has facilitated her creation of that public, and the way politics are embedded in different digital platforms.
