Managing Domestic Work and Careers: The Experiences of Women in Coaching
Abstract
This article examines the careers of women coaches in Canada. Data are taken from interviews with 49 women. The analysis considers their experiences in light of features of the work and the occupational structure that condition women's mobility. The discussion emphasizes the connections between domestic and career concerns. A comparison of women with ambitions for mobility and those who were coaching at the highest levels of sport provides particular insight into the challenges for women of making a career in coaching.Metrics
